Why can the output be larger?
The original may already be highly compressed, or changing formats may change encoding. Actual sizes and changes are shown. If the format is unchanged and the original is smaller, it is retained.
Is compression lossless?
JPG and WebP quality adjustments are lossy. PNG has no quality slider effect; batch PNG compression keeps the smaller original. Choose WebP or JPG when you need a smaller file.
